Gazprom: Talks on contract termination with Ukraine planned soon
MOSCOW, Mar 14 (PRIME) -- Ukrainian energy holding Naftogaz Ukrainy confirmed its readiness to start negotiations to cancel gas sales and transit deals with Russian gas major Gazprom, Gazprom’s Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee Alexander Medvedev told reporters on Wednesday.
“Gazprom has received confirmation of readiness to start negotiations… from Naftogaz Ukrainy. The talks are to be held within the few next days,” he said.
The Stockholm arbitration court ruled on March 1 that Gazprom must pay Naftogaz Ukrainy U.S. $2.56 billion for non-shipment of gas. Gazprom said that the decision misbalanced the companies’ interests and requested termination of gas transit and delivery contracts with Ukraine.
